2 June 2018.
The third edition of the solidarity cup took place on Saturday 2 June on KV Mechelen’s youth playing fields. On this date, Canguru, Hattrick and Straathoekwerk brought 3 groups together to spend a wonderful day.
– the company life (Canguru, Dinggo, Methis, Amista, Cubis, TVC, Flexso and flown in specially from the Nederlands: Insynq)
– the association life (Kleir Gilbeir, The Snodaard, RYMND, Kafee Zapoi, Eendracht Pintelier, Nieks foute vrienden)
– Those who have to make do with little less (Mechels Homeless Team & CAW)
16 teams in all… a first in the history of the Solidarity Cup. Enthusiasts are already dreaming of 20 or 24 teams for next year.
Four groups of 4 competed in the morning. In the afternoon, the football face-off continued according to the knock-out system.
Flexso emerged as the winner. Outgoing champion Kafee Zapoi came second. First timer Dinggo won the bronze medal.
Club icon Piet Den Boer performed the award ceremony before the players hit the showers. Alderman for Sports, Walter Schroons, did the honours afterwards.
It was a fun and exciting day. Thank you to all the teams and the organisers!
Until next year!
